How to Find Us

Kandersteg is situated at the head of a valley 25km south-west of Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland.

By Road - Travelling from the north - Travel south from Bern on the N6 motorway, passing Thun, towards Interlaken. At Spiez, just after the motorway becomes the N8, take junction 19 signposted southwards to Kandersteg. 

Travelling from the south - From the E62 between Visp and Sierre, take the road that leads northwards to Goppenstein. At Goppenstein drive onto the car-train (departures every 30 minutes, see our links page) for the 15 minute train journey to Kandersteg.

By Rail - Kandersteg is situated near the northern entrance of the Lötschberg train tunnel. Trains from Bern, to the north, run hourly; trains from Visp, to the south, also run hourly through the tunnel.

By Air - The nearest airport is the small airport of Berne-Belp, situated to the south-east of Berne city. Direct flights are limited to Munich and Brussels, and in winter from a few airports in the UK. Travelling time to Kandersteg is under 2 hours by public transport (see our links page for the Swiss National Railways journey planner), or approximately one hour by hire car.

The main international airports in Switzerland at Zurich and Geneva have connections to most major airports, and have excellent rail links to Kandersteg; approximately 2 trains depart per hour that connect to Kandersteg in 3 hours and 3½ hours respectively. Also, Basel-Mulhouse Airport is 3 hours away by train. Alternatively, car hire is available, with road journey times a bit quicker than by rail.

Kandersteg liegt an der Spitze eines Tal 25 km süd-westlich von Interlaken im Berner Oberland von der Schweiz.

Mit dem Auto - Anreise aus dem Norden -ab Bern N6 über die Autobahn, vorbei Thun in Richtung Interlaken. In Spiez wird die Autobahn zur N8, nehmen Sie die Ausfahrt 19 ausgeschildert Süden nach Kandersteg.

Reisen aus dem Süden - Von der E62 zwischen Visp und Sierre, nehmen Sie die Straße, die nach Norden führt nach Goppenstein. In Goppenstein nehmen Sie den Auto-Zug (Abfahrt alle 30 Minuten, siehe unsere Link-Seite) für die 15 Minuten Fahrt nach Kandersteg.

Mit der Bahn - Kandersteg liegt in der Nähe des nördlichen Eingangs des Lötschberg-Bahn-Tunnels. Züge von Bern fahren stündlich; Züge aus Visp fahren stündlich.

Mit dem Flugzeug - Der nächstgelegene Flughafen ist der kleine Flughafen Bern-Belp, nahe der Stadt Bern. Direkt-Flüge gibt es von München und Brüssel, und im Winter von einigen Flughäfen in Großbritannien. Fahrzeit nach Kandersteg ist unter 2 Stunden mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln (siehe unsere Link-Seite für die Schweizer National Railways Reiseplaner), oder etwa eine Stunde mit dem Mietwagen.

Die wichtigsten internationalen Flughäfen in der Schweiz in Zürich und Genf haben Verbindungen zu den meisten größeren Flughäfen, und verfügen über exzellente Bahnverbindungen nach Kandersteg; ca. 2 Züge pro Stunde fahren, die eine Verbindung nach Kandersteg in 3 Stunden und 3 ½ Stunden. Basel-Mulhouse Flughafen ist 3 Stunden per Bahn entfernt. Im Mietwagen ist die Anreise etwas kürzer.
