Kandersteg is a small traditional Swiss village at 1200m (4,000ft) in the mountains of the Bernese Oberland. It has a population of only 1200 which means it has remained a friendly place to holiday and take advantage of the stunning scenery, beautiful walks (whether serious mountaineering, strenuous hill walking or a stroll), quieter ski slopes and cross country tracks (50km). In winter a network of walking routes is specially cleared to make the going easier. The village has excellent transport links by road and rail from all of the major cities in Europe.

In the area is the town of Interlaken, home of William Tell, and the village borders the UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch - ideal locations for day trips. The highest railway in Europe can take you to the "Roof of Europe", the Jungfraujoch at 3454m (11,333ft). 

Throughout the year there are various events in the area ranging from "Culture in Kandersteg" in the summer through to cross-country ski races and ice climbing competitions in winter. There are many pleasant places to eat and the restaurants are very child-friendly.

Kandersteg ist ein kleines, traditionelles Dorf (1200m) in den Schweizer Bergen des Berner Oberlandes. Es hat eine Bevölkerung von nur 1200 das heißt, es bleibt eine freundlicher Ort zu besuchen. Geniessen Sie die herrliche Landschaft, schöne Wanderungen (unabhängig davon, ob ernsthafte Bergsteigen, anstrengende Wanderungen oder einen Spaziergang), kaum ausgelastete Skipisten und Loipen (50km).

Die Winderwandernrouten werden speziell präpariert, was das Wandern übrerans angenehm macht. Das Dorf verfügt über exzellente Verkehrsanbindung durch Straße und Bahn aus allen großen Städten in Europa.

In der Nähe ist Interlaken (Wilhelm Tell), und das Dorf grenzt an die UNESCO WHS, die auch Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau umfasst, ideal für einen Tagesausflug. Das Jungfraujoch, the roof of Europe, auf 3454m, ist mit der höchsten Eisenbahn  Europas, der Jungfraubahn zu erreichen.

Das ganze Jahr lang gibt es verschiedene Veranstaltungen in der Gegend, von  "Kultur in Kandersteg" im Sommerbis Langlaufen und Eiskletter-Wettbewerbe im Winter. Es gibt viele schöne Restaurants welche sehr kinderfreundlich sind.
